HTC launched three devices in the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, all falling under the One series namely HTC One X, HTC One S, and HTC One V. Of these three, HTC One X is the company’s flagship phone.
HTC One X
HTC One X drummed up a lot of excitement at the MWC mainly because of its powerful 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, leading a lot of reviewers to describe it as the fastest Android smartphone among the present crop. This stellar phone by the Taiwanese handset manufacturer runs on Google’s Android 4.0 with overlay user interface of HTC Sense 4 and sports a 4.7 inch screen with a brilliant 1280 x 720 resolution. It has an 8.99 mm-thick unibody polycarbonate housing and weighs 130g with its 1800 mAh battery.
The HTC One X features an 8 megapixel camera with .2 second auto focus, LED flash and which is capable of 1020 HD video recording. On the front, it has a 1.3 megapixel camera at 720p, which is ideal enough for video chat. With the new HTC Image Sense module having upgrades like an f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, and an ultra fast .7 second window per shot, the camera captures clear and crisp images of both still and moving subjects. While the rear camera aboard the HTC One X may not be as powerful or innovative as the Nokia 808 PureView, it captures impressive and high-quality images that are way better than many point and shoot cameras in the market today.
The audio of HTC One X is powered by Beats Audio technology which gives users a better experience when listening to music, playing games, or viewing films and videos.
Other specs of the HTC One X include: 32 GB built-in storage, 1GB RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, and a micro USB 2.0 port with mobile high-definition video link for USB or HDMI connection.
The processor of the One X bound for US and with AT&T as carrier will be downgraded from quad-core to a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon S4 because of 4G LTE incompatibility. The phone will connect to the HSPA+ and GSM networks of AT&T. The One X will be released in the second quarter of this year, most likely April, and will retain its quad-core processor in variations outside the US. In Asia and Australia, it will be dubbed as HTC One XL.
HTC One S
The HTC One S has a smaller 4.3 inch display with 540 x 960 resolution. Its aluminum case is thinner at 7.8mm and weighs only 119.5 grams with its 1650 mAh battery. It comes with the same camera and Image Sense camera software as the One X and also has Beats Audio technology, but it is powered by a dual-core processor and has a smaller memory storage of 16 GB.
Like the One X, the HTC One S runs on Adroid 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is due for release in the second quarter too, along with the One X, but it will have T-Mobile as carrier.
HTC One V
The smallest and cheapest among the HTC One series, the HTC One V sports a 3.7 inch display with 480 x 800 resolution and runs on a 1GHz single-core processor. It has a 5 megapixel camera also with auto focus, smart LED, F2.0 aperture and 28mm lens. Unlike the One X and One S, however, it is capable of 720p HD video recording only.
The One V runs on ICS with overlay of HTC Sense 4, just like its bigger brothers, but it has the smallest memory storage (4GB) and RAM (512MB).
Despite these lighter features, the One V is the thickest among the One series at 9.24mm. Including its 1500 mAh battery, it weighs a total of 115 grams.
